Assessment of the effectiveness of legal activities of trade unions at the present stage

Abstract
The article is devoted to the regulation of trade unions. It reflects their failure at the present time, the reduction of their role as an institute of labor law in modern Russia in comparison with the stage of their formation in the USSR. The authors briefly disclose the problems of their insignificant independence, independence from the employer and the state policy, as well as the way of formation of the legislative framework in the field of trade union organizations. As a legal mechanism, one of the main tools for protection of rights with the help of a strike is considered. Examples of strikes in the USSR and modern Russia are given. The conclusion about the need to reform legislation in the field of trade unions in order to increase their independence and autonomy from the employer and the state apparatus.
