Abstract
The article argues that in the context of the high rate of distribution of digital technologies, media availability, satisfaction of various social needs in the digital environment, as well as active communications networking, the interest in studying the role of media in the socialization of young people is growing. Research on the influence of media on the youth audience is conducted intensively, with their focuses and aspect angles being diverse. In particular, since 2022, the Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics (SPbUMTE) has been conducting research related to the study of the nature of media consumption by student youth, young people’s assessment of the influence of media channels and persons on their behavior, with young people’s understanding of the phenomenon of call-out culture in the media space, with the study of aspects of Internet communications and constructed network identity. This series was continued by another study of student youth of the Saint Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics conducted in December 2024 with a new focus on assessing the impact of media on youth in the context of information security.
