Abstract
The article discusses the specifics of Chinese business companies’ participation in the United Nations (UN) Global Compact. The Chinese companies’ involvement in the United Nations initiative was used to demonstrate the way of implementation of the idea of voluntary corporate social responsibility with national specifics. The features of the implementation of the Global Compact provisions on the protection of human rights and freedoms, environmental protection, and the prevention of corruption were revealed, taking into account the regulatory framework and practices of Chinese state institutions. The hypothesis was proven that China is implementing a national corporate social responsibility program that corresponds to the idea of “globalization with Chinese characteristics”.
