Abstract

We conducted a criminological analysis of crimes committed using information and telecommunications technologies and computer information. The level, dynamics, and structure of these crimes over the past years were studied. The analyzed statistical data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and materials from specialized websites (sentences) were used to investigate the most common methods of thievery using the Internet and mobile communications. The work primarily examines the types of fraud, that are most common in this field, using electronic payment instruments (Article 159.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and theft from a bank account, as well as in relation to electronic funds (Article 158, Part 3, Item “d” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The article mainly focuses on the study of victimological aspects of crimes, since the behavior of victims of thievery, especially fraud, has a pronounced victim nature, that is, the victim seems to allow illegal actions to be committed against him. The reasons for such behavior are of scientific interest and are important for the prevention of theft.
