Legal nurturing and patriotic upbringing of young people in the university environment: Problems of pedagogical tools

Abstract

The article discusses pedagogical tools aimed at improving the system of legal nurturing and patriotic upbringing of young people in the university environment of St. Petersburg. The study is relevant due to the introduction of the compulsory subject Fundamentals of Russian Statehood since 2023, intended for forming a high level of legal awareness and legal culture in students, as well as patriotic attitudes as the basis for an active civic engagement aimed at countering legal nihilism. The theoretical aspects of legal nurturing and patriotic upbringing were analyzed, including the formation of civic identity, the development of social responsibility, and the strengthening of national unity. Particular attention is paid to the activity-based approach, interactive teaching methods, project activities, cultural and sports events, as well as the use of digital technologies to improve the educational process effectiveness. The authors identified the main problems in the implementation of patriotic upbringing in universities, such as a fragmented approach, low student motivation, and a lack of qualified personnel. The article proposes pedagogical practices and activities contributing to the formation of a sense of patriotism, legal culture, and active civic engagement in students. According to the authors, this is an important condition for the sustainable development of society and the state under present-day conditions.
