Abstract

The article is focused on the problem of occupational discrimination, with a specific focus on ageism as a prominent manifestation in contemporary workplaces, and its social effects. The article discusses two age categories of employees (the elderly and the youth) who most often experience ageism in the management practice of Russian companies. The conceptualization of ageism as a sociological problem includes a classification of its typical features. A key factor driving ageism is the pension age reform which causes mixed reactions in society. Employers’ discriminatory practices correlate with the legal and regulatory frameworks governing labor relations. The methodological section reviews the results of sociological research by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) and independent sociological organizations that study ageism. The article argues that current recruitment practices, employee retention strategies, and rotation mechanisms in Russian organizations remain suboptimal and require further improvement. The negative social effects of ageism intensify tension in Russian society and the labor market, which together disrupts social balance in the context of economic instability and social challenges. Developing constructive solutions and modern strategies to combat ageism and broader occupational discrimination is essential for advancing interdisciplinary research in this field.

Abstract

The article discusses the construction of a model for demographic behavior, in particular its structural element, migration behavior. According to the author, rural depopulation has many consequences, including a decrease in the labour resources, deterioration of rural infrastructure and, ultimately, exacerbation of economic problems. Anti-crisis measures aimed at the development of rural areas require close attention to changing the model of demographic behavior of rural residents, including its migration aspect. The article examines the migration behavior of rural residents of the Central Black Earth Economic Region, drawing on Federal State Statistics Service data on rural migration in the region, as well as on 2021–2024 sociological studies on key factors and trends in socio-demographic development. Analysis of statistical information on rural migration in Belgorod, Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetsk, and Tambov regions does not provide a stable trend, since the time factor is not decisive. In the current situation, survey methods provide more accurate information highlighting migration sentiments, readiness, and activity of the rural population. The results of sociological diagnostics were used to substantiate a number of trends in the migration behavior of rural residents.

Abstract

The article states that compensation of damage caused by a crime and defense of rights of the victim are key objectives of criminal proceedings. In some cases, even with positive post-criminal behavior, the suspect or accused may be unable to compensate for the damage due to their financial situation. To encourage positive behavior, alternative criminallegal measures should be considered. These measures could establish a structured order of payments following an agreement on harm compensation, including options for deferment or installment

Abstract

Competition law and policy foster, maintain and encourage competition in markets by establishing and ensuring prohibitions on business practices that may harm competition. The risk of anticompetitive practices is shown to increase with the tendency of large digital companies to form diversified conglomerates by developing new products and services or acquiring promising start-ups that reduce competition in the market. These companies operate through unique business models, and their use of advanced technologies and data exacerbates existing anticompetitive practices while creating new ones. Big data is explored as a key tool for gaining competitive advantages, and the complexities of interpreting artificial intelligence algorithms are discussed, particularly in relation to tacit collusion. The study also investigates the antitrust regulation of digital platforms in the European Union (EU) and China, highlighting the emergence of dominant “structuring” platforms in the markets. The authors argue that ensuring competitive market functioning in the presence of these platforms has become increasingly difficult for regulators. A number of regulatory changes are proposed to address these challenges

Abstract

According to the author’s standpoint, antitrust rules are aimed at promoting fair competition, preventing monopolies, and protecting consumers. They ensure a level playing field in entrepreneurial environment. Among other things, compliance with legislation regulating competitive relations is enforced through state coercion measures. The article argues that one of the pressing issues of modern jurisprudence is the study of the administrative and criminal aspects of liability for violation of competition rules, considering relevant circumstances. It analyzes the systemic relationship between antitrust violation proceedings, administrative infractions, and criminal offenses. The study emphases the legislator’s imperative regulation of the sequence of coercive measures applied in cases of competition rule violations. The author proposes a perspective on determining the moment an anticompetitive offense is detected, particularly for calculating reverse fines. The possibility of combining administrative and jurisdictional proceedings with criminal proceedings into a single judicial process is also explored. Given that the economy digitalization creates a new model of competition, it is proposed to introduce as an aggravating circumstance the commission of an anticompetitive action on a digital platform or using algorithms or artificial intelligence
